Quick fix

Choose ChatGPT if you want a broad all-rounder with a large feature set. Choose Gemini if you use Gmail, Docs and Google Drive, or want low-cost storage with your AI plan. Choose Claude if you want plans built around long-form work, coding and tools such as Claude Code. All three have a free plan, so test your real tasks before you pay.

How we made this comparison: we used each company's official plan pages and did not run our own speed or quality tests. AI plans change often, so check the official page before you buy. Zron Tech's own AI tools use Google's Gemini API, but no company paid for this article.

Free plans compared

  • ChatGPT Free: OpenAI lists unlimited text chats with GPT-6, subject to abuse guardrails, plus limited uploads, images, voice and deep research.
  • Claude Free: usage is limited in 5-hour and weekly windows. It includes web search, file creation, memory and up to five projects, using Sonnet and Haiku models.
  • Gemini Free: includes image generation, Deep Research, Gemini Live and Canvas, with 15 GB of shared Google storage.

ChatGPT: best for an all-round assistant

ChatGPT has the widest ladder of personal plans, from Go to Pro. Plus adds advanced reasoning models, expanded deep research, projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs. OpenAI says the Go plan may include ads, which matters if you want an ad-free experience.

Choose it if: you want one assistant for writing, research, images and voice.

Claude: best for focused work and coding

Claude's Pro plan adds Claude Code, research and unlimited projects, and has tools for Chrome and Microsoft 365. Max gives five times Pro usage, while Ultra removes the 5-hour limit for verified accounts and gives ten times Pro usage each week.

Choose it if: your main work is coding, documents or long projects.

Gemini: best for Google users

Gemini's strength is how it fits with Google's own products. Paid plans add large amounts of cloud storage: 400 GB on Plus and 5 TB on Pro. Pro also adds Gemini in Gmail and Docs, video generation and YouTube Premium Lite.

Choose it if: you already live in Gmail and Google Drive, or you would pay for storage anyway.
