Editorial policy

How we research, write, review and correct our content, so you can decide how much to trust it.

Last updated: October 31, 2026

Accuracy and sources

  • We check facts against original sources such as manufacturer specification pages, official documentation, security advisories and laws, and we link to them at the end of each article.
  • We never invent specifications, prices, benchmark results or quotes.
  • Every article shows when it was published and, if changed, when it was last updated.

News

Each news story is labeled as one of three kinds:

  • Summary: we summarize reporting or announcements by others and link to them.
  • Original reporting: information we gathered ourselves.
  • Analysis: our interpretation and opinion, based on the listed sources.

We never copy other publishers' articles.

How we review products

Every review is clearly labeled as one of two types:

  • Hands-on tested: we used the product ourselves. We describe how and for how long.
  • Research-based: we have not tested it ourselves yet. We combine the manufacturer's official specifications with independent test results from named publications, and we say which facts come from where.

Scores are out of 10 and reflect value for the intended buyer, not just raw performance. A budget laptop can score highly if it does its job well for its price.

Specifications are checked against the manufacturer's website and the check date is shown under every specification table. Prices change often, so we show launch or typical retail prices and tell you to confirm with the retailer.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to help research, draft, summarize and check content. AI does not publish anything on its own. An editor checks facts against the sources, edits the text and approves every article. AI-generated images are not presented as real product photos.

Independence and money

  • Companies cannot pay for positive coverage or a better score.
  • We may earn a commission from some links to retailers. These links are labeled, and they do not affect what we recommend. See our affiliate disclosure.
  • Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled as sponsored.

Safety in our guides

Our troubleshooting guides start with the safest fixes. When a step carries risk, such as changing system settings or editing system files, we explain what it does and how to undo it.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and update the date. Significant corrections are noted in the article. Please report errors here.
