ASUS Zenbook A14 review: a featherweight Windows laptop with all-day battery
At under 1 kg with an OLED screen and around 16 hours of video playback in testing, the Zenbook A14 is built for carrying. Here is where it falls short.
Should you buy it?
The ASUS Zenbook A14 (UX3407QA) is a good buy if you want a very light Windows laptop with long battery life. It weighs about 980 g, has a bright 14-inch OLED screen, and lasted about 16 hours 40 minutes in ITPro's video test. Its entry-level Snapdragon X processor and graphics are slower than rivals, so it is not for gaming or heavy creative work.
Our verdict
The Zenbook A14 is one of the lightest Windows laptops you can buy, with a lovely OLED screen and battery life that easily lasts a long day. The entry-level Snapdragon chip and weak graphics hold it back for gaming, creative work and some older Windows software.

How we reviewed it
This is a research-based review. We compared ASUS’s published specifications with independent test results from ITPro, which tested a 16GB, 1TB unit. The model we describe below is the more common 16GB, 512GB version. See how we review products.
Design: almost unbelievably light
At about 980 g (2.16 lb), the Zenbook A14 is lighter than a 13-inch MacBook Air while offering a slightly bigger 14-inch screen. ITPro found the build polished and the hinge solid. If you carry your laptop between classes or on a commute every day, this is its biggest selling point.
Display
The 14-inch OLED screen has deep blacks, high contrast and rich colors. The resolution is 1920 × 1200 at 60Hz, which is sharp enough at this size but lower than some competitors. It is not a touchscreen.
Performance
The A14 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X (X1-26-100), an 8-core Arm processor. In ITPro’s testing:
- Everyday tasks such as browsing, Office and video calls ran smoothly.
- It trailed other Copilot+ PCs in benchmarks.
- The Adreno graphics scored far behind rivals in 3D tests, so it is not a gaming laptop.
Because it runs Windows on Arm, most mainstream apps work, but some games, older programs and hardware drivers may not. Check that any specialist software you need supports Windows on Arm.
Battery life
This is where the A14 shines. With a large 70Wh battery, it lasted about 16 hours 40 minutes of video playback in ITPro’s test. In real use, the reviewer got through a full working day with power left for the evening. A 30-minute charge reached just under 50%.
Ports
- 2× USB4 (USB-C, for charging, displays and fast drives)
- 1× USB-A, HDMI 2.1 and a headphone jack
- Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3
- 1080p IR webcam with Windows Hello face sign-in
That is a better selection than the MacBook Neo or MacBook Air, with no need for adapters for older USB devices or a projector.
Weak points
- Entry-level processor and graphics.
- Speakers sound a little hollow.
- Webcam struggles in low light.
- Memory is soldered, so you cannot upgrade it.
Zenbook A14 vs the alternatives
- MacBook Neo is cheaper and has a higher-resolution screen, but has half the memory, no backlit keyboard and fewer ports.
- MacBook Air (M5) is much faster and similarly portable, but costs more.
- Acer Aspire 16 is cheaper with a bigger screen and a number pad, but is much heavier and has shorter battery life.
The verdict
If you want Windows and value light weight and battery life above all, the Zenbook A14 is an excellent companion for school and travel. If you need more power or play games, look elsewhere.
