How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes about 238 words per minute, a common average for adults reading non-fiction. Speaking time assumes about 140 words per minute.
Do numbers and hyphenated words count as words?
Yes. Any group of letters or numbers separated by spaces counts as one word, so "well-known" counts as one word.
